How much different would your perspective of yourself be if you focused on loving the things you love just as much as dwelling on hating the things you hate…? A big reason so many woman hate things about themselves is because society has told them to or that they have something that needs to be fixed. A few examples where I experienced this personally – after I graduated college, Luca and I moved to China for one year. I have always hated how pale my skin is (definitely got a spray tan going on in 95% of my pictures ☀️) but in China, white skin is beautiful and all their beauty products were geared towards whitening your skin. I couldn't believe it! While I do love being tan, it gave me more of an appreciation for my skin as it is. I was living somewhere that didn't tell me I needed to change how my skin naturally was. Now, Luca and I live in Italy and here I am always asked how to get thin legs "like mine". But growing up I felt like my lower body frame was too thin, no hips, "white girl booty", and I needed more curves etc, which made me dislike my frame. Now, aside from the fact that I have been able to somewhat build curves through strength training, living somewhere that has different beauty ideals shows you just how ridiculous it is to force ANY of these ideals upon yourself. It's not that tan skin or white skin is better, or that a thin frame or a curvy frame is better, it's about how YOU feel, what makes you feel beautiful and most confident. Not because society says you should be that way but because you want to be that way. So today I want you to think about WHY you dislike the things you do and try shifting the balance of how you talk about yourself to a more positive set. At the end of the day, I don't care what body shape, how much you weigh, where you're from, you deserve to love yourself. Even though I've been only working out three times a week I can still see I've maintained my #ma30day results. @mawarriors I am adding one more set to our circuits and decreasing the amount of rest I take between. This helps me maximize fat loss and continue feeling challenged while increasing my performance. Our new program comes out May 15th on www.massyarias.com so until then let's continue coming out of our comfort zones and making progress. Add one more set to your circuits: If you were doing 3 sets increase to 4 sets. Decrease amount of rest time : If you were resting 1-2 minutes, rest 1 min-45 seconds. Increase weight: Add anywhere from 5-10lbs to your starting resistance weight: Based on the exercise increase weight to make each circuit more challenging. These are all different ways you can evolve your #ma30day program or any program you are following. It took me many years to work out how to be happy. Some of the things that helped me become happy was to: Stop caring what other people thought of me, stop trying to please everyone else, stop letting my mistakes eat at me, stop trying to do everything "perfectly" and appreciate all my experiences and and accept all that I am. It takes time but once I'd put it into practice and worked on these things every day I started feeling better. One of my favorite sayings is: "The less we give a sh*t the happier we'll be" – this doesn't mean we stop caring about our loved ones or stop making an effort with people or our job etc. It means we stop being so caught up in thinking we HAVE to succeed at something, or someone HAS to love us for us to be happy. It's not true – we don't have to have any of these things to be happy. When I pull myself out of a situation I realize that it's not the end of the world if things don't work out or if I fail because no situation is permanent! Sometimes things happen because we need them to in order to learn something or grow. With my own experience I had to go through many years of insecurities, battles, pain and heart ache – I truly have learnt so much and everything I went through has added to who I am and I am SO grateful for that! I'm grateful for the people who have done wrong by me, my failures and mistakes I've made. At the time I was "lost" to say the least but now I understand why those things happened. It's really hard to see positives in a negative situation but keep we’re got to keep or chin up because things do always get better and we do come out of it. Some things happen for a reason I believe. Trust the process of life and try not to take things too seriously and get caught up in situations.
